Finance
Co-President
Visakan Swaminathan
Visakan is a third-year Economics & Management student at St Hugh’s College. He joined CapitOx in his first year, starting off in the Academy. He went on to join the Fund as an Analyst, moving on to lead a team. In year 2, he stepped up to the CIO and MD roles, before being elected as President. Having run more than 4 terms of Academy and pioneered the integrated Academy teaching both buy-side and sell-side components jointly.
Now as the President, Visakan overlooks all divisions in CapitOx Finance, while having a deep focus on enriching every member’s experience in CapitOx - from academy students to the committee. Outside of CapitOx, Visakan loves all kinds of sports - from tennis to F1, and never misses any friend group gathering.
Managing Director
Claire Wai
Claire is a second-year PPE (Philosophy, Politics & Economics) student at St Catherine’s College. Claire joined CapitOx in her first year starting off as a Finance Academy participant, and was part of the winning team in the first Oxford International M&A Open in HT25. In TT25 and MT25, she was a Project Lead (M&A Group/ Private Equity), and as Director was involved in the Academy’s curriculum and expansion.
Now, as Managing Director, Claire is responsible for overseeing the Finance arm’s growth across divisions – spanning teaching, sponsorships, organisation, and new initiatives. Outside of CapitOx, she enjoys writing, different genres of music, sings soprano, and is learning to golf.
Managing Director
Matthew Schafer
Matthew is a Second Year Economics and Management Student at Merton College. He joined Capitox’s Finance Academy in Michaelmas of First Year. In Hilary he went on to teach the Academy alongside medalling for Capitox in our first International M&A Open. In Trinity, Matthew was promoted to Project Leader in the M&A division, alongside being an analyst in the Fundamental Strategies Fund. In his second year, as a portfolio manager, he led his team to win Capitox’s MT25 Pitch Competition while helping deliver the curriculum for the MT25 Academy.
This term, as Managing Director, Matthew’s focus is on both the Fundamental Strategies Fund, and Capitox’s Academies, both Fundamental and Quant. Outside of Capitox, Matthew is also a highly dedicated rower, one of the Mens Captains for Merton College Boat Club. His other interests include Film, Motorsport and Mountaineering, having summited Kilimanjaro back in 2022.
Managing Director
Peter Pakdeejit
Peter is a third year PPE student at St Hilda’s College and Managing Director at CapitOx. He initially joined CapitOx in Hilary of second year, aiming to learn more about the intersection between finance and industrial development in the global south. Previously, he has organized the Oxford International M&A Open and helped expand the Oxford Private Equity Group.
Outside of finance he enjoys reading Japanese classic literature, trying new wines and scuba diving.
CIO
Ryan Teo
Ryan is a second-year Philosophy, Politics & Economics student at St John’s College. He joined CapitOx in Michaelmas of first year, starting in the Academy before joining the Fund first as an Analyst, and later as a Portfolio Manager and Director. He also founded the first Macro bootcamp in Oxford, rigorously preparing Macro analysts for a career in Global Macro or Sales & Trading.
Now, as CIO of the CapitOx live fund, he is in charge of hosting the annual Inter-University Stock Pitch competition, and overseeing investments across a broad portfolio of equities and macro ideas. Outside of CapitOx, Ryan is passionate about coffee, literature and travel.
Consulting
Co-President
Eleanor Wilson
Eleanor is an incoming 4th year Experimental Psychology student at St. John‘s College. Eleanor joined CapitOx in Michaelmas Term last year as a Senior Consultant, before joining the committee as an Associate Director the following term. While Eleanor was working on projects she had the opportunity to work with a major national airline and a global coffee chain.
As President of Consulting, Eleanor manages client relationships and engagements, organises the consultant recruitment process, and facilitates the day to day running of the society. Outside of CapitOx, Eleanor enjoys reading, cooking, and writing.
Managing Director
Abram Chan
Abram is an incoming third year PPE student at Harris Manchester College, and has been with CapitOx since Michaelmas of first year as a bootcamp trainee. Along the way, he has undertaken projects with clients such as Google in various capacities.
As Managing Director of Consulting, Abram is responsible for the continued operations of CapitOx’s consulting arm, from client engagement to recruitment to outreach initiatives such as Breaking into Consulting. Outside of CapitOx, Abram loves to cook, tinker with his PC, and play football.
